Mechanical Engineer (Buro Happold Consulting Engineers, Inc., Los Angeles, CA):
- Support the development of detailed mechanical engineering designs for a range of building projects.
- Produce design documentation including drawings, schedules, and specifications, as well as technical reports.
- Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and consultants to ensure coordinated and integrated design solutions.
- Work independently on assigned tasks while receiving guidance from senior engineers as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of Revit models and support the coordination of BIM documentation.
- Create Revit and HVAC workflows using BIM and automation.
- Attend internal design team meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Prepare technical calculations and assist in the development of mechanical specifications.
- Review and assist with observation reports during construction phases.
- Manage personal workload to meet project deadlines and budget expectations.
- Communicate professionally with clients and project team members when required.
- Assist in reviewing design documents for accuracy, quality, and compliance with codes and standards.
- Support graduate engineers through informal mentoring and technical guidance.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and sustainable design practices.
- Work with mechanical HVAC design principles for building services; Revit for mechanical/HVAC systems, including creating parametric families, coordinating complex models, and integrating with other disciplines; BIM workflow automation (Dynamo scripting, API integrations, and custom tool development) to streamline design and documentation processes; sustainable building services design and integration of HVAC systems; mechanical calculations and preparation of technical specifications; codes, standards, and sustainable design practices in building services; and, delivering fully coordinated mechanical designs in collaboration with architectural and structural teams using BIM in real-time for large or complex building projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, or a related field of study.
- Two (2) years of experience with mechanical HVAC design principles for building services; Revit for mechanical/HVAC systems, including creating parametric families, coordinating complex models, and integrating with other disciplines; BIM workflow automation (Dynamo scripting, API integrations, and custom tool development) to streamline design and documentation processes; integration of HVAC systems; mechanical calculations and preparation of technical specifications; codes, standards, and sustainable design practices in building services; and/or, delivering fully coordinated mechanical designs in collaboration with architectural and structural teams using BIM in real-time for large or complex building projects.
The salary is $83,250.00 - $92,060.00 annually.
