Ready to drive financial performance at a global, design-led engineering consultancy? Join Buro Happold as a Finance Business Partner.
This person can be based in our Bath or London office on a hybrid working model.

We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join our UK+ Finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting project performance, delivering high-quality financial insight, and partnering with senior stakeholders across the business.
You’ll bring together both statutory and management accounting expertise, helping to shape financial decision-making while ensuring robust reporting and controls.

About The Role
At Buro Happold, a Finance Business Partner plays a pivotal role in connecting finance with project delivery, acting as a trusted advisor to project and operational teams. The role goes beyond traditional reporting, focusing on driving project performance, enhancing commercial outcomes, and providing insightful financial analysis that supports strategic decision-making. By building strong relationships with non-financial stakeholders, the Finance Business Partner helps identify risks and opportunities, challenges assumptions, and ensures that financial considerations are embedded into day-to-day project management and long-term planning.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Finance Business Partner, you will:
- Lead the preparation and control of monthly management and project accounts.
- Deliver annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
- Partner with Project Directors and leadership teams to provide financial insight and challenge performance.
- Conduct regular project finance reviews across your portfolio.
- Monitor and manage debtor positions to mitigate financial risk.
- Provide clear financial analysis and monthly commentary to stakeholders.
- Support commercial decision-making across projects and cost centres.
- Collaborate closely with Project Operations and wider finance teams.
- Take ownership of cost centres, including approvals and performance tracking.
- Manage quarterly WIP and FX reporting.
- Ensure compliance with financial systems, processes, and deadlines.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across finance activities.
About You:
You’re a confident and proactive finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys influencing business outcomes.
Key Skills:
- Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems capability.
- Highly organised with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Resilient, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar finance business partnering role.
- Ability to provide both technical accounting expertise and commercial insight.
- Experience in professional services or engineering/construction (desirable).
- Familiarity with Agresso or Deltek Vantagepoint (advantageous but not essential).
Qualifications:
- Part-qualified or fully qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA).
