Environmental Acoustic Consultant

Are you up to the challenge? We are seeking a passionate Environmental Acoustician to join our team to work on a wide range of projects from Noise and Vibration Impact Assessments to complex Development Consent Order projects.

You will join an established subgroup within the acoustics team (of over 40 people). who provide environmental noise impact assessments to a wide variety of clients and industries including commercial, sports and entertainment, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments. This will include Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, international projects as well as the potential opportunity to get involved in the other areas of the discipline i.e. building acoustics, events, audio-visual, stadium and arena design.   


Key Duties:

  • Preparation of noise and vibration impact assessments and accompanying reports, including environmental impact assessment chapters.
  • Interface with other areas of the firm through project work.
  • Support senior members in the delivery of large scale projects.
  • Propose multiple solutions to challenges, being able to articulate the benefits and shortfalls of each to the client, taking into consideration other disciplines requirements within these solutions.
  • Produce insightful reports, presentations, models and drawings as requested by the client to an excellent technical standard, high level of accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Undertaking noise and vibration surveys, acoustic calculations and modelling.
  • Interpretation and application of relevant acoustic policy and standards.
  • Attend meetings and workshops with clients and other stakeholders.


Your skills and experience:

  • Relevant consultancy experience, predominately within environmental acoustics but experience of building acoustics also advantageous.
  • Effective and flexible communication skills and ability to work with a variety of collaborators.
  • Understanding of relevant policy and regulation.
  • Extensive acoustic modelling skills using IMMI, Cadna/A or similar, to predict environmental noise from road, rail (passenger and freight), industrial and construction sources.
  • Knowledge of the limitations of traditional prediction and assessment methods and application of alternatives methods where appropriate.
  • Experience of working on major infrastructure and construction projects which follow the Development Consent Order process advantageous.
  • An Acoustics related qualification.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence
