Senior Structural Engineer

Senior Structural Engineer (Buro Happold Consulting Engineers, Inc., Chicago, IL):

 

  • Lead the structural design of projects and undertake the detailed engineering design of a wide variety of buildings, including mega-projects, existing structures, and low embodied carbon design projects. 
  • Lead teams and monitor the performance of graduate engineers and technicians. 
  • Represent the company at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers, and coordinate work with other team members and disciplines. 
  • Attend construction sites to review construction progress and quality in the field. 
  • Deliver high-quality project work within agreed deadlines and budget while ensuring appropriate service and design decisions are met. 
  • Prepare and verify detailed engineering designs, drawings, documents and specifications for gravity and lateral systems of building structures. 
  • Create 3D structural analysis models using commercial software, including RAM, SAP, ETABS, and SAFE. 
  • Work with computational engineering techniques using grasshopper scripts to transfer and manipulate data and geometry; building structure design including adaptive reuse and working on existing structures; sustainable design practices and low embodied carbon design techniques; international design codes including US and European technical standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, and Eurocode); and, use of design and modeling software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, and Rhino.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field of study. 
  • Four (4) years of experience with computational engineering techniques using grasshopper scripts to transfer and manipulate data and geometry; building structure design including adaptive reuse and working on existing structures; sustainable design practices and low embodied carbon design techniques; international design codes including US and European technical standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, and Eurocode); and/or, use of design and modeling software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, and Rhino.

 

The salary is $124,093.00 - $131,000.00 annually.
