The role:

The purpose of this role is to deliver operational performance in the security management advisory team alongside the current Technical Director and Associate Director by establishing and growing the security management advisory capability and building a strong team. This will be achieved through:

  • Dynamic and determined commitment to work winning and commercial performance, stretching boundaries and breaking new ground
  • Maintaining and developing the highest standards of technical quality; continuously developing the team through innovation and creativity

To achieve this, you will:

  • Be recognized as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for physical and personnel security and authority on security management.
  • Support the Head of Security Advisory to establish and grow the security management advisory team and offering for Buro Happold.
  • Along with the Head of Security Advisory, recruit and develop consultants to resource the security management advisory offering of Buro Happold
  • Work alongside and support the Technical Director and Associate Director to integrate Security Design Teams and Security Management Team offerings into a package delivering confidence to clients, and securing Buro Happold as trusted advisors
  • Maintaining an accurate picture of current and future market trends to establish the work focus for the security management advisory team.
  • Championing and delivering the potential of collaborative multidisciplinary working offered by Buro Happold.

 What will success look like:

  • Establish Buro Happold security management advisory offering and secure billable work within 3 months
  • Grow team to 3 FTE’s with 50% utilization in 6 months
  • Grow team to 5 FTE’s by month 12 and increase utilization to 60%
  • Deliver revenue in excess of $500k in 12 months

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Project Director for appropriate team projects, taking ownership for sustained and productive client relationships.
  • Directing multiple projects across the team, taking responsibility for the innovative solutions while ensuring financial success.

Business Development

  • Working with the Director’s and Associate Director’s to identify the group’s marketing goals and establishing an effective plan.
  • Winning work – actively identifying and converting leads to projects within the framework of the group marketing strategy.
  • Dynamic focus on new business; broadening coverage of high-quality clients and projects.
  • Reviewing financial and technical submissions/proposals; attending interviews.
  • Developing and maintaining key client relationships under all circumstances, maximizing opportunities for repeat business.

Technical Leadership

  • Operate as an ‘ambassador’ for the Security group, identifying, building and developing relationships with key interfaces within the industry, profession and associated academic bodies.
  • Being a technical leader in one area of security consultancy in own right
  • Develops pioneering solutions and engages others in the development and delivery of these.
  • Provides an environment for learning and creativity by leading expert communities, sharing information with participants.
  • Participate in and ensure delivery of the process of high-level project technical/quality reviews of specifications, reports and drawings produced by the team.
  • Maintain the skills balance within the group in line with the defined strategic direction.
  • Ensure ‘design rigor’ is delivered on each project, and in particular ensure design QA processes are fully planned and implemented. 

Your skills and experience: 

Required

  • A university degree in security or a risk management related field,
  • Experienced technical and commercial leader; track record of exceptional delivery over a sustained period within security consultancy.
  • Specialization in an area of security management advisory for example: personnel security, physical security, or construction security.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Professionally registered or working towards Chartered Security Professional

Desirable

  • International project experience
  • Worked in a global matrix organization
  • Mobility to travel in role
  • Cultural awareness, capable of operating efficiently across geographies.

 What we offer  

  • Salary range of $175,000 to $225,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
