Your key duties

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven graduate who is passionate about building services engineering and committed to designing high‑performance, low‑energy building systems. You’ll play a key role in shaping how buildings perform by helping to create mechanical, electrical, and public health systems that deliver comfort, control, and efficiency - today and far into the future.

Working alongside senior engineers, you will support the holistic design of passive and active MEP systems, using advanced modelling tools to test performance, sustainability, and energy outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the design of passive systems such as natural ventilation, external shading, thermal mass, and daylight strategies.
  • Supporting the design and coordination of active systems, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, and building controls.
  • Conducting energy, load, and environmental modelling to help optimise building performance.
  • Contributing to ‘total view’ sustainability assessments, environmental regulation compliance, and energy savings calculations.
  • Participating in whole‑life costing studies to evaluate long‑term operational, maintenance, and environmental impacts.
  • Evaluating alternative engineering systems and supporting comparison studies to identify the most efficient and future‑fit solutions.
  • Assisting with assessments of existing buildings in collaboration with our Asset Management team.
  • Supporting multidisciplinary design coordination to ensure systems are integrated, buildable, and aligned with client aspirations.

Your skills and experience

  • Knowledge of building services, mechanical or electrical engineering systems.
  • Understanding of passive and active building performance strategies.
  • Interest in sustainability, low‑energy design, and net‑zero‑carbon approaches.
  • Familiarity with modelling software such as Revit, IES, Dialux, or similar tools (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Engineering background in Building Services/MEP Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong report writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate fluently and positively in clear English.
  • Quick, innovative problem‑solving mindset.
  • Ability to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
  • Commitment to adding value and approaching challenges with curiosity and innovation.
  • Understanding of workplace and on‑site Health and Safety expectations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with regional or international standards such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, SBC, and environmental certification frameworks (LEED, Mostadam, Estidama, WELL).
  • Experience (academic or internship) with building performance analysis or energy modelling.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC controls, metering, and system integration.
  • Interest in digital engineering, parametric workflows, or automation tools.
