ESG Coordinator

You will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Global Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework across the practice. This will involve coordinating the reporting and monitoring of global sustainability and carbon commitments, and for supporting the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the global Environmental Management System (EMS). 

The ideal candidate for this role will leverage their expertise in corporate sustainability and environmental policy to manage the internal BH ESG framework. They will oversee the Company’s ISO14001 Environmental Management System (EMS), including improvement projects, and coordinate and support the Environmental Coordinators network.

Success in this role involves building key relationships with ESG, sustainability, environmental, and other support services employees across the practice to achieve these objectives.

Key duties:

Environmental Management System

  • Ensure the global Environmental Management System is in alignment with global sustainability objectives and ISO 14001 requirements, including the facilitation of external ISO audits. 
  • Oversee EMS documentation to ensure compliance with ISO standards, BH QMS, and document control systems, including the management of the Global EMS SharePoint site.
  • Conduct internal audits of offices to ensure compliance with ISO 14001 as part of the Global Internal Audit programme and assist offices in achieving certification by implementing the required components of the EMS. 

ESG Framework and Reporting

  • Assist the Global ESG Manager in developing and continuously improving the company’s ESG framework. 
  • Coordinate the creation of the annual company ESG report by collaborating with internal colleagues to gather content and working with the communications and marketing team on the report’s production.
  • Collaborate with an external supplier to complete the annual validation of the carbon footprint through independent third-party assurance. 

Internal ESG Communications

  • Oversee the internal employee ESG/Sustainability communications programme and collaborate with the BH Communications and Marketing team to ensure its successful implementation.

ESG Learning & Development

  • Develop and manage ESG/sustainability learning and development materials, including training courses, through the internal L&D platform.

ESG Bid Advice and Support

  • Offer guidance and support to BH bid teams in answering ESG questions during the PQQ/bidding process for client projects and frameworks and oversee the delivery of regular client ESG reports.

Your skills and experience:

We would like to hear from you if you have several years’ experience in a corporate sustainability/ESG coordination role and possess a solid understanding of company greenhouse gas emissions targets and reporting.

Your excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively engage with and train colleagues on sustainability/ESG issues. You will be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and have a proven track record of successfully delivering internal improvement projects. 

You will bring experience of managing and prioritising a busy and varied workload and have a flexible attitude and be an excellent team player. 

Your diligence and attention to detail are complemented by your experience with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. 

Ideally, you will be a member of a relevant professional body such as IEMA and have experience of working in a global organisation. Background knowledge of the built environment sector would also be advantageous.
