We are looking for an Associate to join our diverse and talented Structural Engineering team in Hong Kong.
Your next role
This role involves providing strong technical and organizational leadership to the Structures team, fostering a culture of innovation, design excellence, and high-quality project delivery. The successful candidate will mentor junior engineers, champion technical development, and ensure consistent application of best practices across projects.
In addition to technical leadership, the role includes responsibility for team management, commercial oversight, and coordination with multidisciplinary project teams. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, capable of representing Buro Happold in meetings and presentations with international and local clients. As an Associate, this individual will serve as a key ambassador for Buro Happold both internally and externally.
Key Duties
- Prepare high-quality technical specifications and review the work produced by other team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with project and company standards.
- Lead structural engineering projects, taking ownership of client relationships and ensuring successful project outcomes.
- Monitor project financial performance and allocate resources effectively to meet commercial and delivery targets.
- Provide technical mentorship and support to junior team members, fostering their development and contributing to their personal as well as the project success.
- Support the implementation and delivery of the team’s Performance and Development Review (PDR) process.
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Preparing bid proposals and additional fee proposals with the support of the Group Leadership.
Skills & Experience
- A proven track record as a technical and project leader, demonstrated through consistent, high-quality project delivery across a sustained period in the industry.
- Strong mentoring and leadership capabilities, with a passion for developing others, encouraging collaboration, and building cohesive, high-performing teams.
- Experience working on both domestic and international projects, ideally across multiple sectors—Buro Happold’s diverse portfolio will further broaden your exposure.
- A solid academic background, ideally including a degree and postgraduate qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, along with professional registration with the HKIE or an equivalent body and membership in a recognized institution such as the ICE or IStructE.
