About You

Are you an experienced Accountant looking to make an immediate impact in an international environment?

Buro Happold is looking to recruit an Accountant (Europe Focus) to join our Finance Team in Warsaw on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a key role within our Central European finance operations. You will contribute your expertise to a well-established setup, ensuring smooth and efficient accounting processes while collaborating closely with an international team.

As part of our hybrid working model, the successful candidate will initially be based in our Warsaw office to support onboarding, knowledge sharing and integration into the team before transitioning to a hybrid working arrangement.

Your key duties

  • Support the month-end close process through timely and accurate GL entries and reconciliations 
  • Perform general ledger postings, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
  • Post employee expenses and supplier invoices in line with internal procedures and local regulatory requirements
  • Perform AP subledger reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of balances
  • Respond to vendor queries and resolve discrepancies or payment-related issues in a timely manner
  • Prepare weekly payment proposals for approval and execute payments upon authorization
  • Contribute to process improvements and support automation initiatives
  • Collaborate with European entities on approvals, coding and invoice-related matters
  • Accurately record and post bank transactions


Your skills and experience

As an experienced Accountant, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate:

  • At least 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in Polish and a very good command of English (German is an advantage).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and strong systems skills.
  • Strong hands-on mindset with a focus on delivery and accuracy
  • Ability to quickly understand existing processes and systems
