Security Vetting Manager

Buro Happold is seeking a Security Vetting Manager (SVM) to join our team. As an SVM at Buro Happold, you will play a vital role in being the Single Point of Contact in managing and co-ordinating the security vetting processes required for our personnel to work on UK projects requiring a clearance.  

The role can be based in either London, Bath, Manchester, Leeds, or Edinburgh, with a hybrid working model.

Key Responsibilities

As the primary security coordinator, your role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities to ensure compliance and maintain security standards across UK-based programs. You act as the central point of contact for all project security-related matters, handling personal data with the utmost confidentiality in adherence to data protection laws. Additionally, you oversee the end-to-end vetting process, including onboarding new personnel, conducting background checks, and ensuring renewals are completed on time. Regular reporting to the Lead of Buro Happold Security Vetting Team/Data Controller is also part of your duties. Collaboration with stakeholders and maintaining updated trackers daily are essential aspects of the role.

Some specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating security awareness training for project teams and sub-contractors.
  • Monitoring and recording security non-conformances to provide auditable evidence for reviews.
  • Briefing and updating security requirements during induction sessions.
  • Collating documentation for security vetting packs and liaising with client security teams.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Hold or able to attain minimum of S/C security clearance
  • Previous experience in a service delivery and coordination role.
  • Experience providing high-quality proactive support to multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven reporting and administrative experience.
  • Risk management working practices 
  • Good working/operating experience of SharePoint
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive information and manage various stakeholders

Desirable Criteria

  • Prior security vetting / screening experience 
  • Prior experience of working within a security cleared environment
