Paralegal

We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join us!

Working with a niche team of busy attorneys, you will work closely with the North American Commercial and Legal team to provide valuable operational and administrative support. In this role, you will have the opportunity utilize and grow your legal knowledge, while learning how to apply it to various intersections within the business. You will work collaboratively with the Commercial and Legal team, as well as other teams within the practice such as marketing, human resources, and finance from time to time. A proactive approach, keen organizational skills, an eye for detail and a deep-rooted interest in corporate procedure as well as risk assessment and mitigation within a business setting will make you a well-qualified candidate for this wide-ranging and engaging position.

Your next role

In this role, you will off all-around support for the North American Commercial & Legal Team. This includes, but may not be limited to, the following duties: 

  • Liaising with various project teams and disciplines to arrange for the execution of construction and consulting-based agreements. 
  • Carrying out ad-hoc research tasks, as directed by the Commercial & Legal Team. 
  • Interpreting legal documents and providing a synopsis to the team.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and providing general assistance with negotiating simple agreements such as, non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, standard form consultant agreements, as well as providing assistance with drafting standard form subconsultant agreements for projects. 
  • Provide invaluable filing and maintenance of corporate records, project-related files within company systems. 
  • Liaising with external consultants for the proper and timely filing of various state registrations for each operational entity within the United States and Ontario. 
  • Provide ancillary claim/litigation assistance such as: (i) gathering project-related documents to provide to insurance adjustors and external counsel, as necessary; and (ii) keeping track of our internal pre-claim and claim tracking list. 
  • Collaborating with a variety of teams to coordinate operations. 
  • Supporting timely project management and streamlining resourcing by ensuring that documents are completed and provided or filed on time, providing reminders and/or follow-up as needed. 

Your skills and experience

  • 4+ years of paralegal work in a similar setting. 
  • Work with professional design firms a plus. 
  • Knowledge of corporate governance and regulatory compliance for design professionals also a plus. 
  • Excellent organization skills, a keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize to accommodate strict deadlines. 
  • Ability to remain flexible and offer sound judgement based on your analytical and interpretive skills. 

What we offer:

  • Salary range of $73,000 to $110,000 This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
