We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer in our growing building services team. This role will see you technically and creatively challenged on some of the most interesting developments in the US and further afield. What will I be doing?
Input to the projects is likely to be varied but will include the requirement to:
- Undertake detailed mechanical engineering design.
- Prepare technical schedules.
- Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
- Monitor performance of Technician (as appropriate).
- Under guidance of senior staff, represent Buro Happold at meetings with the client, other professionals and suppliers.
- Ensure service and project work are carried out within agreed deadlines and within budget.
- Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the company and the client are achieved.
- Mentor and assist Graduate Engineers.
What can I bring to the role?
As an experienced Mechanical Engineer, it is expected that you will be able to demonstrate:
- 3-6 years' experience in building services design engineering; in HVAC designing
- Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with ability to work independently.
- Broad building design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects.
- Excel skills (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
- Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of electrical concepts and their impact upon the overall project. Ideally also showing an awareness of other key design team members such as architects, structural and civil engineers.
- Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, IES, and Hevacomp software
- Bachelor’s degree

- Salary range of $78,000 to $100,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
