Your key duties
The Marine Conservation - Project Manager role provides an excellent opportunity to join our growing environmental and ecology practice and especially marine programs and projects.
Buro Happold has been appointed to establish, manage, and deliver a program of 30 – 70 marine conservation projects for a major KSA client over a 2-year period. The Marine Project Manager will be part of a team of 5 subject matter experts to be embedded within the client’s office in for the duration of the Contract.
The Buro Happold team of experts will be responsible for leading activities that support the marine conservation and management program, including:
- An end-to-end review of the existing program where risks are identified, and sequencing is validated.
- Monitoring, managing, and representing our client’s best interests in dealings with contractors appointed to deliver projects under the marine program
- Interaction with internal (e.g. Project Management Office (PMO) and financial department…) stakeholders within our client organization, and other external Government entities
- Establishing and delivering a Knowledge Transfer Program that is set to upskill our client organization in the fields of marine conservation and management of marine projects.
The Marine Project Manager will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams to support the client department a program advisory capacity and can also be embedded in management roles on programs and projects. The Marine Project Manager will provide input into the development of strategies, scopes and plans and support the management of stakeholders and other consultants, resources, schedules, financials etc. This also includes management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. The Marine Project Manager will also contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Marine Department.
- Assessment of Program objectives, expected benefits, scope, size and complexity, timescale, phases, cost and risk appetite.
- As part of the client team develop the best way in which programs are to be structured, directed and managed including the optimal organization structure, authority and decision-making roles.
- Conduct feasibility studies and propose multiple solutions to challenges, being able to articulate and document the benefits and shortfalls.
- Support the PMO team in the development of roadmaps and schedules and analyse key dependencies and test various implementation options.
- Support the management of various aspects of programs, including planning, communication, risk assessment, quality management, change management, stakeholders and resources to ensure compliance with set standards, procedures, and guidelines
- Lead or provide input into the development of scopes of work and requests for proposals to procure necessary works for the client.
- Develop project execution plans and documents required to manage projects.
- Produce and review reports and presentations as requested by the team/client to an excellent standard, high level of accuracy and in a timely manner.
- Evaluate the performance of the client team or department to identify more efficient processes and procedures, in collaboration with the PMO.
- Be able to deliver presentations in front of clients, other professionals and suppliers and represent Buro Happold
- Monitor industry trends to identify changes in project strategies, tools, terminology and to adjust accordingly
Your skills and experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Environment and/or Project Management or a related field
- A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification may be advantageous
- Significant experience in the Marine Conservation field
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to details and technicalities
- Excellent organisational and technical skills
- Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt and stress management skills
