Your key duties

The MEP BIM Lead plays a critical role in delivering innovative solutions and ensuring compliance with organizational standards. This role is responsible for managing complex tasks and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project success. Additionally, this position contributes to the continuous improvement of organizational processes and the development of sustainable strategies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage MEP BIM projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to address technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align project objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, providing regular updates to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Train and support design team in Revit usage and BIM workflow best practices
  • Train and mentor junior team members to enhance team capabilities.

BIM Process Delivery


  • Support Regional BIM Lead (if requested) on RFP reviews for specific BH BIM Discipline (e.g. EIR requirements such as LOD per stage / Model development Specification / LOIN (Level of Information Need)
  • Feed into project BIM Execution Plan by Regional BIM Lead after project award
  • Assist in creation of TIDP (Task Information delivery Plan for own discipline)
  • Mentor BIM technicians in best practices for Revit usage and technical tasks
  • Liaise with other discipline teams to ensure coordination strategy from early stage
  • Lead development of specific BH discipline BIM enhancements
  • Line manage BIM team as needed
  • Liaise with Discipline BIM support team (internal BH team in other regions or third party outsource BIM Technicians)
  • Assist with creation of discipline Revit models
  • Supporting design team as required with technical tasks

 

Model Setup & Project Start Up

  • Model setup Automation (Rushforth / DiRoots) 
  • Set up of BH model exemplar (project Template) – Can then be used to create additional project specific model as needed. 
  • Model will have architecture and other discipline models linked as needed. 
  • Check Arch models for scope boxes and views (Project North setting is suitable for Buro Happold)? 
  • Acquire cords after confirmation from Project BIM Lead 
  • Levels and Grids setup – Copy monitor 
  • All BH Views set up – Arch / ID Background information to be shown clearly and presentation style to enable MEP services to stand out. (May require setup of partial view template for Arch by level) 
  • Worksets setup to follow BH Standards (One workset for BH elements (NOT by element type))   / One workset for each link 
  • BH Views setup to follow BH View templates
  • Ensure dependent views are utilised. 
  • Scope boxes / match lines / Title blocks 
  • Check Sheets match TIDP 
  • Sheet setup to be automated based on exemplar set of approved PDFs showing scope boxes for plans at agreed scale 
  • 3D & 2D Views set up for publish sets to ACC
  • Support Project BIM Lead in BIM & process automation efforts for BH discipline

 

Model Coordination– From early stage throughout project and at check point

  • Help MEP Job Lead define MEP Service Zone / Coordination Strategy 
  • Police adherence to MEP Service Zone / Coordination Strategy 
  • Clash Avoidance Strategy (right first-time approach) 
  • ACC Model Coordination – support setup for use by own discipline team 
  • Navisworks walkthroughs for design review 
  • Navisworks Clash detection setup and review on regular basis 
  • Builders work 3D coordination / automation in conjunction with other discipline BIM leads.

 

Deliverable Quality (Models and Drawing Output) – Ongoing and Project Milestones

  • BEP adherence (Project specific Client BIM standards and EIR) 
  • Model Quality checks (LOIN etc - Automate where possible)
  • Aid production of design stage MEPF Revit models where required. 
  • Correct use of Revit process (Modelling / Tagging / View Templates
  • Dependent views / Worksets etc.) 
  • TIDP alignment of milestones 
  • Drawing Deliverable Quality – Drawing review for Title blocks 
  • Drawing Deliverable Quality – PDF output review (high quality - presentation of BH drawings)

Your skills and experience

  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in the relevant discipline for design stage delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency in technical tools and software related to the role (Revit, Navisworks, ACC).
  • Expert Revit user with experience in MEPF disciplines.
  • Experience of setup and administration of ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects effectively.
  • Strong MEPF coordination experience (Both inter-discipline and with Architecture, Structure etc.)
  • Solid understanding of international BIM Standards and workflows such as ISO19650 and US BIMForum LOD Specification.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with automation systems and tools such as Dynamo and Grasshopper is advantageous
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with industry trends.
