Your key duties

  • Undertake business research assignments independently or collaboratively within a team, at times focusing on specific sectors and service lines when aligned to them. Assume the role of a domain expert or senior resource, overseeing the work of individual contributors when necessary and also serving as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for clients.
  • Execute business research aligned with the research assignment's scope, utilizing secondary sources, subscribed databases, and, if needed, primary sources. Provide Buro Happold's leaders and consultants with analysis, insights, recommendations, and perspectives to facilitate informed strategic decisions for both clients and the company.
  • As an SPOC, comprehend client-provided research briefs, define requirements collaboratively, engage over the assignment lifecycle to agree on scope, manage client expectations, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, impactful, and accurate reports.
  • Adhere to process guidelines governing assignment delivery workflow, client management, copyright, intellectual property, information security, brand guidelines, and archival of assignment artefacts. Contribute to process improvement initiatives enhancing productivity, client engagement and satisfaction, and deliverable quality.
  • Conduct best practice sessions for RIC team members based on insights from research assignments, covering areas like research methodologies, assignment delivery, and client management. Develop and implement training for new team members to familiarize them with RIC templates, assignment delivery protocols, and standard data sources.
  • Assist HR and senior RIC team members in the hiring process by assessing applicants through various criteria, setting and evaluating written tests, conducting interviews, and providing feedback.

Assignment Deliverables

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Analyzing client accounts through a detailed evaluation of their structure, business segments, financials, challenges, strategies, and a SWOT analysis to build stronger client relationships and promote tailored services that address specific needs or challenges.
  • Detailed financial and statistical analysis around sustainability and ESG consulting.
  • Conducting research and analysis to evaluate markets, sectors, or industries by examining size, trends, growth forecasts, challenges, competitive landscapes, and opportunities and risks. This would aid Buro Happold or its clients in decision-making related to strategy, resource allocation, and capturing, building, or growing their market share.
  • Undertaking benchmarking studies to compare competitors of the firm or its clients in any market, identifying areas of improvement, best practice, and opportunities for innovation based on carefully selected criteria.
  • Studying historical data and patterns in industries, sectors, and markets to identify recurring trends, tendencies, or shifts in market behaviour, consumer preferences, and business performance. This informs the development of strategies to mitigate anticipated risks or leverage emerging opportunities.
