Contract Structural Technician

Are you passionate about creating innovative, elegant and robust structural engineering solutions for complex construction projects? We are looking for a Structural Technician to join our Manchester team on a contract basis. 

This role is deemed inside IR35. The successful candidate will be expected to attend the office 3 days per week.

Key Duties:

  • Set up linked models and coordinate models across disciplines.
  • Following the established BIM execution plans and adhere to project specific documentation.
  • Ensuring that the model aligns with the standards and goals set in BIM Execution Plan and BIM project workflow criteria.
  • Creating discipline specific BIM Modelling content.
  • Developing accurate construction drawings and extract data based on the discipline BIM platform.
  • Drawing/detail production from engineering sketches/calculations
  • Generating detailed reinforcement drawings and structural steel drawings
  • Ensuring drawing production follows company standards
  • Reviewing model/drawings to check compliance with design
  • Clash detection, resolution and reporting ensuring a coordinated design
  • Using BIM authoring tools to provide technical support and mentoring required to the project team.

Your skills & experience:

  • Understanding and experience of leading and doing the structural drawings delivery (from schematic drawings to rebar detail drawings).
  • Structural modelling experience using Revit and drawing production i.e. knowledge of model, view and sheet planning and set-up.
  • Extensive experience in the use of Autodesk software’s such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD
  • Have delivered structural engineering drawings using BIM for various materials such as Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel
  • Multi-disciplinary understanding and experience in coordination with other disciplines
  • Experience in Clash detection and Use of Navisworks
  • Knowledge of Rhino, Grasshopper would be beneficial.
  • Working closely with an integrated design team including checking and reviewing of models / drawings
