Buro Happold is recruiting an Operations Manager to support the Operational Strategy of one of our UK discipline groups and acting as deputy on operational issues on behalf of the Discipline Lead.
This role will have a high degree of autonomy and expectation to think proactively in order to successfully support the Discipline Unit Lead and delivery teams in ensuring operational requirements of the Discipline Unit’s strategy are delivered, whilst coordinating and leading on performance issues with the Discipline Directors.
Based from either our Bath or London office, this role will engage with the Cities Discipline Leadership across the UK to ensure the business reacts and responds to any new support requests/requirements, whilst working with the UKCOO to deliver the transformation of the business support services required to deliver the Discipline’s strategy.
Here at Buro Happold, expect the exceptional.

Your next role:
Be part of an exceptional team that embraces technically demanding projects and challenges. Be at the forefront of changes in the industry such as reducing embodied carbon and modern methods of infrastructure design.
Key Duties:
- Performance management – working with data and reporting provided by finance and central operations, to assess discipline performance against budget targets and provide necessary reports;

- Forecasting - working with Discipline Leaders to drive comprehensive and accurate reporting of the group position including Backlog & Pipeline;

Your Skills and Experience:
- The person should have an analytical mindset.
- Ideally, the person should be an advocate of change and seek to drive efficiency through an understanding of how our projects and disciplines are run and operated through data analysis as opposed to changing the way projects and disciplines are run to support business services.
- Methodical and logical, the individual should be capable of interrogating financial, operational and project related data sets and be able to converse with both project teams and internal teams to link the two up as effectively as possible.
- It is anticipated the individual will understand some of the shortcomings of our systems, disciplines and processes and look to implement systems and processes that will ultimately help our disciplines win more work and deliver it more profitably from cradle to grave (bid to project completion). This ultimately is the metric by which the success of this role will be measured.
- The individual may wish to retain some technical, project or staff leadership – this can be discussed and worked through on a case-by-case basis.
What we offer:
- Holiday entitlement of 25 days per annum, exclusive of Bank Holidays.
