We are looking for an Associate Transport Planner to join our Transport & Mobility team to work on a diverse range of projects that cover urban development, infrastructure planning and design, resource management, and programme delivery. This position is within our Cities business unit that is at the forefront of innovation in the urban environment.

Our growing and diverse team undertakes a variety of consultancy work from developing sustainable transport strategies to delivering transport masterplans, in the UK and globally. We are looking for urban planners, architects with experience in delivering portfolio of transport projects, engineers, economists and active travel specialists who want to make a difference.
Our transport team works on a variety of exciting projects worldwide, ranging from strategic master planning at the city level to transport assessments at the development scale. Some recent projects include expansion of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon), Mixed-use masterplan for Praderas in Chile, Riyadh’s King Salman Park, and Al Ula Regional Framework Plan (KSA). With a strong pipeline of future work, we plan to continue expanding and capitalizing on Buro Happold’s transport offerings.
Required Skills
- Experience in international transport planning projects and/or transport data analysis and modelling
Proficient in drafting technical reports and presentations, with the ability to visualize and articulate complex problems - Excellent communication skills, capable of preparing and presenting work to both internal and external stakeholders
- Creative and innovative mindset, with a lateral thinking approach
- Proven ability to independently lead mobility input on masterplanning and development planning projects
- Experienced in mentoring junior staff and managing project resources
- Essential working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Illustrator; familiarity with other software tools is desirable
- Skilled at challenging conventional thinking and exploring future mobility solutions
- Passionate about innovative, smart, and sustainable solutions
Desirable skills
- Solid understanding of urban planning principles, with experience working in a multi-disciplinary team setting on various projects
- Proficient in using software such as GIS, CAD, and Adobe InDesign
- Experience working on international projects, with the flexibility to travel as needed
- Skilled in drafting fee proposals for securing new work
