Buro Happold is seeking an AI/ML Automation Deployment Specialist to join our talented and inclusive hybrid Engineering team in either New York City, NY or Pittsburgh, PA

As an AI/ Automation Deployment Specialist, you support the deployment, adoption, and operationalisation of AI, ML, automation, and agentic platforms across the US region, while contributing to global technology initiatives.

Your next role  

This role focuses on enabling engineering teams to effectively use existing and emerging tools in live project environments. You work closely with Regional Automation Leads, BIM and computational teams, and global development groups to ensure tools are implemented consistently, adopted effectively, and aligned with real delivery needs

Your key duties  

As a key part of the team, your responsibilities will be varied but will broadly include:

US AI / ML & Agentic Platform Deployment:

  • Support the rollout and adoption of AI-enabled and agentic platforms across US projects, including platforms such as DataGrid and VIKTOR.
  • Work with Regional Automation Leads (RALs), BIM teams, and project teams to support configuration, testing, documentation, and onboarding.
  • Apply automation and AI tools within live project workflows, operating independently within a defined scope.
  • Capture user feedback, adoption challenges, and lessons learned to inform continuous improvement.

AI Productivity & Prompting Enablement (US):

  • Support the implementation and adoption of AI productivity and prompting capabilities used across the practice.
  • Develop and maintain prompting guidance, examples, and workflow-based use cases aligned with engineering delivery.
  • Support targeted training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities.

US Automation & Efficiency Tools:

  • Support the development, testing, and deployment of automation and efficiency tools identified by US automation and BIM teams.
  • Contribute to validation, documentation, and refinement of tools prior to wider rollout.
  • Assist in preparing guidance material to support consistent adoption.

Global AI & Automation Support:

  • Support global AI, ML, automation, and agentic platform initiatives under the direction of senior developers and global leads.
  • Contribute through defined tasks such as prototyping support, testing, documentation, deployment preparation, and feedback synthesis.
  • Participate in pilot and proof-of-concept initiatives with a focus on usability, scalability, and adoption.
  • Function as a feedback link between US project experience and global development teams.

 

Your skills and experience 

  • 1+ years of experience and background in the AEC industry with supporting engineering, design, or digital delivery workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computational Design, or a closely related discipline. Master’s degree is a plus but not required. 
  • Strong capability in Python and data-driven or parametric workflows.
  • Familiarity with BIM and design environments (e.g., Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo).
  • Practical exposure to AI/ML and agentic systems in applied or prototype contexts.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

What we offer 

  • Salary range of $75,000 to $95,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
